Two of Missouri’s best-known nonpartisan and independent political analysts have separately reached the same predictions in some key statewide races Tuesday. Dave Drebes of the Missouri Scout political report and Steve Kraske, veteran campaign correspondent of The Kansas City Star, forecast wins for Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and Governor Jay Nixon, and for Republican Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder. Drebes told his legions of political intel subscribers that Kinder “has mustered enough fuel to get to the finish line this year and survive. As for Kinder’s future gubernatorial prospects, there have been more difficult rehabilitation roads than this.” Drebes and Kraske also predict Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster will thump his colorful GOP challenger Ed Martin. If Mitt Romney carries Missouri by as wide a margin as all polls indicate, it means Missourians are doing some significant ticket-splitting. Betcha Missouri Republicans wish they hadn’t led the push to drop straight-ticket partisan voting a few years ago.  Kraske and Drebes do part company on some other contests down the ballot, illustrating the alternating help of Romney’s silken tailored coattails and the heavy curse of having Todd Akin atop the Republican ticket. Kraske writes that KC’s own Jason Kander, a secretary of state candidate, and fellow Democrat, treasurer Clint Zweifel, lose in the pro-Romney tide in Missouri.” But Drebes predicts Kander and Zweifel win their races. Both Zweifel and Kander were front-and-center rallying Democratic ground troops on Saturday in St. Louis County. The faithful fanned out from a big rally in Webster Groves headlined by Koster, Kander, Zweifel and a rousing speech from former House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt. Another star at the rally, and beneficiary of armies of weekend volunteer door-knockers and literature droppers, was State Representative Scott Sifton, who looks to unseat Republican State Senator Jim Lembke. While campaigning hard, Kander tweeted that he and gorgeous wife,Diana Kander, paused for a fun lunch at Goody Goody Diner, proclaiming, “We’ll be back!”
