New York Observer vet critic Rex Reed has spewed vitriol over the new comedy, “Identity Theft” calling it “dreck” and a “chunk of junk.”  As far as Oscar-nominated star Melissa McCarthy, he ripped her calling her “tractor-sized,” “a screeching humongous creep” and “female hippo.” In response, a commentator blew back, “If Ms. McCarthy was a man, you wouldn’t even think of calling him fat, because you’d get your old ass kicked in a minute.”  Memory of another day, when Reed launched an attack against Sarah Jessica Parker in the first “Sex and the City” for having a mole on her chin.  He suggested “. . .that growth on her face just gets bigger with every close-up. . .and needs wart surgery removal.”
