STATE OF THE UNION RATINGS, MARCO RUBIO’S GAFFE
Fast National ratings reveal that viewership of last night’s presidential State of the Union address ranked NBC as the winner among the 18-49 year-olds and a score of 1.6 – down from last year by 17 percent. ABC News down from 2012 by 14 percent, CBS down 27 percent and FOX down 49 percent. Of the cable networks, CNN jumped 36 percent with 3.683 million viewers in the key 25-54 year-olds over last year. Rising conservative star Marco Rubio’s words were drowned out by his interruption to slurp water in the nationally televised response.

“Marco Rubio’s words were drowned out by his interruption to slurp water in the nationally televised response”
You are a moron.
Slurping water is no reason to lose your train of thought…I thought he was trying to make the point that what he [is] up against in his response to the President’s “Das Kapital” speech was so mind-numbingly infantile that his mouth ran dry trying to hold on to any idea of intelligent response that he needed to replace the saliva lost in his efforts. ANY President, and I quote Lyndon Johnson as I watched many years ago say…”We’re going to make sure everyone has everything, not later, but now…” That made my mouth run dry, and then LBJ follows it up with a 10% “surcharge” to cover costs for the VietNam war…And that made my parents groan…and shoo me out of the den so they could discuss it in adult language.
…seeing as I was 23 at the time and due to report to the “pre-induction draft” …the parens did not want me to see their apprehension.
…to answer doubters, I was classified as 1-Y…in College and they did not cal me “Mr. Magoo” for nothing…I still lose my golf ball in the MIDDLE of the fairways.
The Bergermeister is no moron. He is just a dedicated pinko striving to make all Republicans look like morons. He, and the rest of the media, do that job quite well. I am surprised Kitty has not commented on this particular item. Rubio is a nice intelligent man, but the media in 2016 will have a field day with his switch from Catholicism to Mormonism back to Catholicism with occasional attendance at a Protestant church. Something makes little sense here. Besides he’s short. But I would vote for a fire-hydrant if it ran against a “pro-choice” candidate. Our only hope is that Hillary will weigh 500 pounds in 2016 and will have to roll rather than walk.
The media obviously thinks Obama has transcended the need to drink water and quenches his thirst directly from the cosmos. Check Drudge, there are a lot of pix of Obama and Hill drinking water during televised speeches. If this is the left’s biggest gotcha with this guy, they are in for a big surprise in four years.
“slurp water”? What great reporting! Was your degree in journalism acquired through mail order? Or did it come as the prize in Cracker Jack? Why do so many liberals and their lapdog media connections continue to major in the minors when it comes to reporting the “news” regarding the GOP.
Wally Ballew, you republicans do too good of a job of making yourselves look like morons (Todd Akin) without any help from the media!
Slurping water during a speech is much more important than any of the issues brought up during the speech. Who cares about content, about facts, about evidence, about consequences of public policy? Let’s not mention the issues, the condition of the economy, foreign policy, etc. Those subjects are much too deep and complicated for journalists to understand and for the public to want to hear. Go for the emotional.
Every speech the President gives sounds like a campaign stump…then I figured out why…he is STIll a community organizer, and no matter the failings of his soaring rhetoric, he presents NO solutions, only the rallying cries of call to action…and action which he never does or explains why not, and blames any opposition as being ignorant and bigoted …and of course it’s always someone else’s fault. The low-info voter is now his base, and will praise his profound and farsighted intelligence, even though he just pulled their rug out, and no one will notice as they only remember his compassion and understanding, and have no tolerance of any proof to the contrary.
What assinine remarks to make. It matches the personality.
Why is it, Anonymous, that most of the comments I see from you are simply name calling? If you disagree with someone’s opinion, why not offer some well spoken criticism instead of base vitriol? Even on the occasions when I think I might take the same side as you on a controversy, I’m put off by your lack of respect for persons you’ve never even met. Is it possible for you to disagree with someone without insulting them?
