He was singled out at the awards ceremony for “exemplifying Jedi behavior with his actions, ability to learn, and kindness to others”. …Sightems: Mike Shannon at Dino Karagiannis‘ The Tenderloin Room, chowing down on liver with onions; Cards’ Ryan Franklin, with family, at Giovanni’s on the Hill, knocking off veal with porcini mushrooms. . . Look for Debbie Ballman and Kim Lutz to bow their Main Street Cafe on Sept. 1 on West Main Street in Washington, Mo.,.. .Morgan Lily, heiress to former St. Louisan and stand-up comic, Andy Gross, due here from Hollywood on Sept 10, with two comic headliners, at the grand opening of Hottest Ticket Comedy Club in the Third Degree Glass Factory at 5200 Delmar Blvd. The laugh-a-minute comics are Emil Fry and Rocky LaPort. Lily also is featured in Rob Reiner‘s upcoming film, “Flipped,” booked for unspooliing this month. . .More than 300 guests were on hand at the Kemp Auto Museum for the St. Louis Summer Sizzle benefit for the Gateway Multiple Sclerosis Society’s fundraiser. Do-gooder Bill Gillespie was feted for having raised $1 million over the years for MS.

HOTTEST TICKET

Marshall Gross and his son, Andy, have formed a partnership with the Third Degree Glass Factory, located on Delmar Boulevard, just east of Union Boulevard, at which on the second Friday of each month, the Grosses will produce a comedy show with top national talent. (First show is Sept. 10.) Three headliners, who have already been inked for the premiere, are: Rocky Laport; Emil Fry and of course, Andy Gross. The venue is called “The Hottest Ticket.” “We are also taking the club nationally,” said Marshall.

Morgan Lily
Comedian Andy Gross and his wife, April Bartlett – both hometowners transplanted in Santa Monica, are swelling with pride these days. Their 9 year-old daughter, Morgan Lily, has hit the big time with Sony’s most recent disaster film, “2012.” She is cast in the Roland Emmerich movie, which is slated to unspool worldwide on Nov. 13 (and, eventually, here) . Debbie and Craig Kaminer have reduced the sale price of their Westmoreland manse to $1.9 million from $2.3 million (awww!) . Lung specialist Dr. Steven Lefrak, a grad of Brooklyn’s Erasmus Hall High, and his wife, Suzanne, enjoyed the good life at Tony’s t’other night . And, Bill Durham, the savvy ad guy who put Jack Daniels back on the map at his Simmons/Durham (later sold to Arnold) ad shop is tirelessly helping wounded vets coming back from Iraq through APA and the American Family Network. What do vets need? Jobs, mostly “Youth ask us to help find jobs and it’s amazing what they don’t know,” he said . De La Salle Middle School, a small faith-based school in north St. Louis’s historic Ville neighborhood, sends most of its students to local high schools and boasts a graduation rate for them of 96 percent. On November 5, Cannon Design will host a fundraising event for the school at its new space in the Municipal Power Building. An interesting feature, touts board member Jane Deuker, will be an auction of drawings and sketches by prominent architects from around the world. . . .

Looks as though Zoe Houk Robinson is headed for a pock-faced rice throw. The owner of Il Frateli and BoBo’s Noodles will marry her more than decade-long beau, Dean Pidgeon, topper of Pinnacle Corp. Real Estate Advisory Services in October. Houk Robinson did it the hard way – emulating Joan Crawford‘s role in “Mildred Pierce.” She began as a “hash slinger at the old Shell Cafe and then opened her own, long-gone Zoe’s Cafe on Park Avenuie. Wedding bells will ring some time in October. . . And the Vital Voice is temporarily suspending its print publication due to “undergoing a complete business restructuring and publication redesign.” Stories and date info will be updated on the newspaper’s website, www.thevitalvoice.com.
