More than 200 guests gathered on the rooftop of the Four Seasons Hotel, as the sun basked Gateway Arch, to witness the marriage of uber-lobbyists John E. Bardgett, Jr., and Kim Tuttle.  After a brief and moving ceremony, conducted by Mo. Supreme Court Justice Mary Rhodes-Russell, the newlyweds entertained the crowd at a gourmet dinner in the ballroom, followed by an eve of dancing.  Well-wishers included: Sondra and county exec Charley Dooley; Cong. Lacey Clay; majority leader Charlie Shields and minority leader Victor Callahan; Attorney Gen. Chris Koster; mega lawyer Greg Smith with his wife, Becky; restaurateur Pat Shannon-Van Metre with hub, Gary; the Cardinals’ Julie and George Laningham; new papa and Cards exec Ron Watermon; Nancy and Blues great Perry Turnbull; Hall of Famer Bernie Federko with his wife, Bernadette, and their three sons; Lou and Tricia Hamilton; golf pro Jay Delsing; Jacqueline Bardgett, John’s daughter; hotel and insurance honcho Dale Turvey and seemingly every power player west of the Mississippi.  The highlight of the evening was a moving toast by John’s son and best man, Justin, who raised his glass to his pop and Kim on behalf of his late grandfather, former Supreme Court chief Judge Jack Bardgett.

“Ed Martin will give Carnahan a run for his money. . .I like Ed,” said St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay of Martin, who will duke it out with incumbent Cong. Russ Carnahan.  Slay also confided, that his brother Raymond Slay is in New Orleans to check out the bar scene.  “He wants to open a gay sports bar on Manchester in The Grove,”  continued hizzoner at the annual St. Nicholas Greek Festival.  Slay was there sans his wife, Kim, whom he said went on a cruise with her parents and were stalled in Nova Scotia due to Hurricane Earl.  Surrounded by County Exec Charley Dooley, The Evening Whirl’s Gentry Trotter, Sherry Wibbenmeyer and Lounge Concepts co-founder Pete Ferretti. Slay chowed down on lamb and as he sipped from a bottle of Mythos Beer, he quipped, “Like George W. Bush might say, ‘when in Greece, do as the Grecians do.”
