With his wife Kitty, Hanford Gross, president of Gross Mechanical Contractors, Inc., told us of his close association with Conoco and added,  “They’re bringing pipelines to Conoco in Wood River, Ill., to bring in crude oil from Canada.for refining.”  The Grosses toasted their wedding anniversary at Herbie’s Vintage 72, while I learned that Roman Coppola, son of Francis Ford Coppola, while in town for the Film Festival, has since had a series of meetings with Jeff Orbin, one of the partners in the restaurant. That could be interpreted as discussing FC Reserve wine from the Coppola Vineyards or – perhaps a spinoff of the successful Herbie’s.
