Founded in 1966, hamburger lovers have trekked to the Clayton stand during its heyday, then operated by Vince and Tony Bommarito. Fatted Calf venues sprung up from coast-to-coast in the 1970s. Alas, the restaurant has folded.
A sad day in St. Louis…
I can’t stop laughing at the owner of the building. He hand picked this husband and wife team to rent to. The lady that owned it for years wanted to sell the business to these other guys and he wouldn’t let her. So he rented it to these two that had already run Dierdorf and Hart’s downtown out of business. Since they took over the place they raised the prices, cut the quality and had to close for months because they almost burned the place down. And as of March 1st they were 4 months down on the rent. Now the Fatted Calf that had been there since 1966 is gone. So Mr. Landlord still like your hand picked operators? Think maybe you should have picked someone else ? LMFAO !!!
