You could’ve missed a harmless joke from Jamie Foxx – a reference to B. Obama as “our Lord and savior.”  The outrage machine is running including the words of Todd Akin, whose campaign reached out to its fundraising list: “Article after article has been written about a no-name filmmaker who produced a video mocking Islam. How much do you think will be written about an Oscar-winning Hollywood star mocking Christianity?  Friends, I may have lost the Senate race, but I do not plan to stop speaking about the problems facing our country, and I encourage you to do as well!  Thanks for all you do, in particular your recent help in getting our last few remaining campaign bills paid promptly. . .could still use your help if you can donate $10 today”.. ..Film students!  Here’s your chance to be honored at the Feb. 24 Academy Awards ceremony.  Oscar host Seth MacFarlane will add that college flavor in the “Oscar Experience College Search” for special Oscars to students.  For more info, go to the Academy Awards Facebook page. . .The new issue of the Missouri Conservation magazine highlights “community stewardship” efforts – creating “small islands of natural communities in urban areas” by the College School in Webster Groves and Bethany-Peace United Church of Christ parish in north St. Louis county, headed by teacher Tim Wood and Pastor Paul Emily, respectively.. .Boxer Mike Tyson’s “acclaimed one-man show,” directed by Spike Lee, is headed to the Peabody in April as part of a nation-wide tour.  And on Dec. 7 in Las Vegas, Tyson announces the formation of a foundation called “Mike Tyson Cares.” Its motto: “Giving kids a fighting chance”. . .Carrie Underwood, who first auditioned in our town for “American Idol,” will portray Maria von Trapp in next year’s live airing on NBC in “The Sound of Music”. . .The NCAA has stripped one of Mizzou’s scholarships. . .WashU is cutting its January program after the 2012-2013 year. . .Sen. Claire McCaskill tossed a grenade on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” about Grover Norquist, the guy behind the anti-tax pledges:  “I met him for the first time this morning.  Nice to meet him but who is he?  The guy who captured all the attention in this?

It’s time for Todd Akin to shut up and go away. The public soundly denounced him and his brand of right-wing Christian fundamentalism. His kind have no place in our government. We have no desire to be a theocracy. He should live in Iran if he likes that kind of government so much. I think we have much more important things to worry about than Jamie Foxx’s harmless little joke.

  • KITTY says:

Great pic of Claire. It must have taken several hours to airbrush and remove all her bags and wrinkles as well as slimming her down. When she’s on the news sans makeup and with her hair looking terrible it’s hard to tell she’s the same woman in the pic!

  • Anonymous says:

Why doesn’t Todd Akin ask Mike Huckabee for some cash? Or call up Romney and ask HIM for some cash – he’s got plenty for all his buddies. Why not call up Reince Prebius = the idiot who runs the Republican Party? Or maybe Mitch McConnell or Boehner = or the Koch Brothers or Karl Rove?

Or did Todd burn ALL HIS BRIDGES to the republican party?

Guess he did if he still needs some money. I thought republicans were budget conscious and hated deficit spending. What happened?

  • Will Roth says:

@Kitty, for your info. Claire has slimmed down in the last year, no photoshop here, cheap shot, that’s the way she wears her hair, any more cheap shots in your wicker.

  • paste says:

We love it. You are a breath of fresh air.

  • jean valjean says:

Memo to Todd Akin: Who is the Hollywood star mocking Christianity?

  • Wally Ballew says:

    Keep at it.

You make far more sense than Jamie Foxx.

But don’t get too worked up at this point.

After all, we have four more years to survive.

  • buttinsky says:

Foxx’s comments illustrate the double standard. If a conservative had made that comment, liberals like Rich would be all over them.

  • Anonymous says:

Well buttinsky, we all know conservatives are right 100% of the time and they will tell all of the rest of us how to live our lives, only problem:

YOU LOST. Get over it and move on.

  • buttinsky says:

anonymous, what exactly does your comment have to do with mine? Just remember, it’s not over until we say it’s over.

  • RETIRED1 says:

I am so glad to be an atheist and not a hateful ‘good christian’ like Kitty!!

  • wwsivo says:

What a typical Missouri election we had; a Creep against a Crook.

  • Jennifer says:

I agree with wwsivo, the less of the two evils.
