I would’t exactly call Dick Cheny’s years in government “public service.” I think self service would be more appropriate. After all he did push very hard to get us into a war that we should never have entered. This war has cost us thousands of lives of our young men and women and trillions of dollars. He personally has made many millions of dollars from this by awarding the largest government contract in history to Halliburton, a company he once led and still has financial interest in. All of this was done without ever going out for bids. Any other government employee would have been prosecuted for this clear conflict of interest. So “public service,” no.

MEGA DITTOS, RICH. YOU ARE SPOT ON. The only thing you missed was him shooting his buddy and those private oil executive meetings in the White House that NO ONE knows what was said or who attended. That guy gives me the creeps – so does his daughter who comes on TV like she’s an expert on secret missions etc. – but knows absolutely nothing unless her father told her secrets.

  • Towncar07:

I have a higher opinion of Cheny than the previous posters, however the idea of “private oil executives” that were actually trying to find a way to produce MORE oil, which is a very capitalist idea, the left just hangs on like a rabid pit-bull with their right wing conspiracy junk, when right before our very eyes and minds our Country, freedoms, and American way are being sent down the drain in the name of social justice and redistribution of created wealth that will eventually starve us ALL… Yeah, that’s progress that will lead to Dear Leader’s ascension into President for life…now you see my left-wing conspiracy, only you don’t care.

  • Towncar07:

…and for the record…it’s NOT an ASSAULT weapon…it can’t be by DEFINITION…only an AUTOMATIC weapon qualifies as “assault” type… GAWD, the horseradish that passes for brains will doom us all in false rhetoric.

How, exactly did Cheney profit from a company “he once led?” None of the companies I once led still pay me a dime.

  • Towncar07:

Cheny [could have] profited from “consultant fees” or delayed stock options…both legal. I led 1 company for 32 years, then I liquidated it, and now it also pays me nothing, and my taxes have gone UP.

towncar is such an expert and all knowing of everything concerning everything. Just like any other right wing conservative who knows all and disparages anyone who disagrees. Of course towncar knows what’s best for the rest of us, he’s lord and master of all things good.

Cheney’s a slug. Millions for his buddies with NO BID contracts, millions for himself with ownership. Secret meetings in the White House refusing to let anyone know who attended – if it was for more oil, what’s the problem in knowing who attended. If it was to further Cheney’s buddies empires and wealth along with Cheney’s – not so good.

Cheney the ultimate snake responsible for many lives being lost and our country’s treasure being spent on two wars that weren’t necessary – all for his own gain and profit.

There is such a thing as “National Security” which I think the current President forgets to remember. But, hey, I have my opinions, I pay my taxes, no more no less than the law allows, and you can call me anything you want, at my age I can voice my opinion, and some may come true, some may not, simply because of the American spirit that perseveres thru the worst of things. In the end, we’re all dead, so I have an opinion, so what !

    So, he got nothing.
